Our client is part of a wider, global multi national. They are a specialist, high tech manufacturer supplying state of the art equipment and products into many key markets across the globe.
Due to an internal promotion, the business has asked us to seek out an exceptional Materials Manager that will form part of the Senior Management Team of our client.
You will provide a crucial link to global supply chain strategy and to the wider global corporation. Direct responsibility is for the Procurement, Planning and Warehousing within European Operations. Also for sub-contract manufacturers globally that supply European Operations. The objectives being to guide the team to be a successful accomplishment of agreed targets and goals.
Although there is clear direct responsibility, this post is part of a Senior Management Team and as such will be expected to contribute to wider goals and initiatives outside that direct line.
The successful candidate has responsibility for Purchasing, Warehousing and Planning Departments. The primary duty is to set and monitor targets, communicate and mentor. It is important that the relationship is one of leadership and allowing team members to define and execute agreed plans. Also ensuring basic principles are applied correctly and consistently to maintain excellent employees relations. An open and approachable style to the team and all employees is essential.
It is the Materials Manager's responsibility to manage conduct and capability. Expectations should be set that these should be dealt with quickly and clearly. Potential action above a coaching should be discussed with this position, issues with the potential for dismissal will involve this position directly.
It is essential that you hold a degree and have at least 5 -10 years experience in Materials Management. You will be a proven negotiator and have experience of :
* Lean Manufacturing and techniques
* Proven track record of successful KANBAN operations
* Understanding of MRP systems
* Experience of working within a Continues Improvement Environment
We are interested to talk to candidates who have worked in the Electronics Manufacturing Services, perhaps for similar American global business. A formal training or education would be desirable.
